Security is Paramount, Wealth Secondary

Hello folks, I hope that I haven't lost any readers during my forced abstinence. I've had several contentious issues as of late, and I have no other recourse than to blurt it out all here.

Security has been a problem lately for us. My computer got attacked by viruses. Our house was recently visited by someone we don't know (we were not at home that time he visited). And it got me thinking. Why are there security breaches?

In my personal opinion, 90% of the security slip-ups are due to human error. We have two computers at home. I recently learned that my brother, who transfers files from both PCs, doesn't even scan the files.

Our house, which recently had an unwelcome visitor, asked a multitude of questions. Our househelp, who was naive, thought it was the best thing to answer all the questions of this visitor. So he knows some details, or at least validated some, because of someone's misplaced kindness.

When it comes to safety, there are two types of people - the paranoid and the oblivious. They are extremes, but I'm only doing that to make a point. I'm the former. My house mates so to speak, are of the latter version.

It runs in all their life spheres - health, money, lifestyle, etc etc.

So the next time one of your family members feel a bit paranoid about something, I suggest you listen to them. We are a muted voice not because we don't say anything, but because the world is run by mostly oblivious people. They choose not to do anything because it's the most convenient.

And remember, it's all human error. So the only way you can do security measures is to install preventive measures. After all, like in medicine, prevention is the best cure.
